The goal of tutoring is to improve our students' skills, abilities and grades. In addition, this program also exposes our students to positive role models through the volunteers who serve as tutors.

Each semester, we review our students' report cards and GPAs. Our students with a GPA above a 3.0, or a B average, are rewarded for their hard work and success. Our students who do not have a 3.0 are required to attend the tutoring program until they can bring up their average. We also encourage students who have a C in one or more classes to come to tutoring. 

Volunteers are the "staff" of the tutoring program. They work one-on-one with our high school students and with 2-3 elementary school students on the skills the students need to address. The relationships our students develop with their tutor are just as important to their success in school as the skills the build. They gain someone who believes in their ability and someone who holds them accountable to completing their work.
