Create Your Dreams was founded in 1994 after a conversation with the principal of Boyd Elementary School about the lack of resources for motivated and talented students, our future leaders, in economically disadvantaged areas. That summer, 20 students, chosen by their principal, Dr. Annie Neely ( who continues to serve on our Board today), participated in a camp program.  This program involved the students in a variety of activities, including arts and crafts, swimming and other sports, and field trips around the city.

After seeing the success of the summer program, Create Your Dreams continued with these students as an after-school program. In May 1995, we received our 501(c)(3) designation and began to expand our program to reach more students. Twelve years later, we serve almost 50 students and have 21 successful graduates.
